I remember a couple of summers ago visiting Pabst Brewery on Juneau Avenue in Milwaukee.

Thought empty, the old buildings were still there. The tour of the old main office building was the highlight.

The windows of the office of Captain Fred Pabst at his Brewery in Milwaukee.

We walked up the steps into the office of  Captain Pabst and then into the section where the advertising office, with A. Cressy Morrison as manager, probably stood.

That tour gave me a sense of the close working space the executives of the brewery shared.

I was glad to be able to see this historic site.

The tour added a dimension to writing the story of Pabst Best Tonic I would not have had if I had not made that visit on a hot summer day.

Join Thomas Mickey as he writes a book about the Pabst Brewery’s medicinal beverage Pabst Extract, first produced in 1887 and for decades sold in pharmacies across the country.
